DMV Lab is very pleased to announce the publication of an Arabic version of parts of Tatiana Repkova’s seminal book – “New Times: Making a Professional Newspaper in an Emerging Democracy.”
You can download the PDF in Arabic here.
First published in 2001, “New Times” is a comprehension guide to all aspects of running a newspaper in the context of an emerging democracy, tackling issues such as strategic planning, organisation structure and human resource management.
Even though much has changed since the book first appeared, many of the lessons in “New Times” are still very much applicable today and apply to any media, not just newspapers.
“New Times” has already been translated into 13 languages, and now, for the first time, parts of the book are available in Arabic.
DMV Lab has chosen to translate the preface, chapter two “Strategic Planning” and chapter three “Business Plan” into Arabic.
We hope that this translation will assist Arabic speakers in responsible positions in media institutions get a clear understanding of some key concepts when it comes to running their media and thus further DMV Lab’s mission of fostering diverse, independent and viable quality journalism in the Arab region.
The full text of the book in English can be found on the Media Managers Club website.
